Tuesday, May 10, 2022

FORT WAYNE, IN. – Saturday, May 11th, AWS Foundation will host the eleventh annual disABILITIES Expo after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event is designed as a one-stop resource for individuals with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and caregivers who are seeking services, equipment and information. The day promises entertainment and inclusive activities for all ages and abilities. It takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Admission is free to the public, and parking is free with voucher, found at DisabilitiesExpoIndiana.org.

“We’re really excited to be back after so long,” states Andie Mosley, Event Coordinator. “Some of the familiar vendors and entertainers are back, but the day promises many new experiences as well.”

Autistic magician, Cody Clark, will perform a sensory-friendly magic show that combines his talent and lived experience for a show especially dedicated to individuals with disabilities and their families. Each hour there will be entertainment, free hearing screenings are available throughout the day, and there is an Art Show and Sale with proceeds benefiting individual artists with disabilities. There is a chance to win one of several door prizes and take-home sensory activities will be set up all around the event. In addition, the event offers direct access to over 115 companies with products and services designed to help individuals with disabilities enjoy a higher quality of life, engaging in activities at home, at work, and recreationally.
