Apply for a Downtown Development Week Promotion Grant

Tuesday, June 19, 2018

(Indianapolis, Indiana) The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs is adding a small grant opportunity to the week-long celebration in October called Downtown Development Week.

This week will be an opportunity for communities across the state to host events to celebrate their downtowns and encourage comradery through events and activities. Downtown Development Week, which will run from Oct. 8 – 12, 2018, will honor Indiana’s cities and towns’ commitment to preserve and invest in the heart of the community, the downtown.

Downtown Development Week is an excellent opportunity to showcase all of the positive activities and investments that are happening in an Indiana downtown. To help provide for a planned event or activity, OCRA will be awarding no more than five Downtown Development Week promotion grants of up to $1,000 per event or activity.

“With this grant, we want to help with the funding barrier communities often face when planning a special downtown event or activity,” said Jodi Golden, Executive Director of OCRA. “These events can help bring together the community and create a great sense of place”

Golden said the event must take place during Downtown Development Week. This grant can help celebrate a community’s unique downtown heritage as well as support all the businesses and services that are an integral part of a downtown.  The deadline to apply is June 29, 2018 at 4 p.m. (ET).
