2019 IPA Regional Forum | Growing Healthy Communities
This page contains resources shared at IPA's five Regional Forums on Growing Healthy Communities, taking place June 5-13, 2019.
About
IPA’s Regional forums on growing heathy communities connected local leaders in five locations across Indiana. Facilitated by Health by Design, participants learned socioeconomic factors affecting their communities and explored cross-sector opportunities to improve outcomes.
Each forum addressed the fact that where we live is far more influential than our genetic code in determining how long and how well we live. Field experts and local service providers explored the social determinants of health (education, income, social support) and policy, systems, and environmental change strategies. Attendees learned about regional initiatives centered on workforce development, nutrition, and substance abuse prevention. An action planning workshop helped funders consider ways to shift their thinking, program activities, and investments proactively to support healthy and thriving communities with lasting impact.
Speakers included representatives from Health by Design, Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana United Ways, Purdue Extension, and others.
