The following organizations and initiatives are excellent sources of information for funders of all types. Reports and other resources from many of these organizations will be added to the Resource Library in the coming weeks.


Grantmakers for Effective Organizations

Understanding that grantmakers are successful only to the extent that their grantees achieve meaningful results, GEO focuses on identifying and promoting grantmaker practices that support nonprofit success. GEO is a membership organization, but a selection of its resources (original research, action guides and more) are available to the public on its website.


GrantCraft is a valued resource for learning the craft of grantmaking. GrantCraft’s signature approach has been to tap the "practical wisdom" of a diverse group of experienced practitioners. In doing so, GrantCraft has amassed a set of tools and techniques that are now available as guides, a map of the craft, cases and more.

Disaster Philanthropy Playbook

The Disaster Philanthropy Playbook is a compilation of philanthropic strategies, best practices and lessons learned that have saved and galvanized local economies, nonprofits, and vulnerable populations from entering into a permanent downward spiral in the wake of disaster.

IRA Charitable Rollover Survey Fact Sheet

On February 23, 2015, the Urban Institute’s Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy conducted a survey of community foundations and the IRA Charitable Rollover provision. All community foundations with total assets of $5 million or more were invited to take the survey.
