The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. awarded an additional $14,000 to 11 nonprofit organizations to support response efforts to the COVID-19 crisis.

Community Foundation staff continue to connect with and listen to the plans, challenges, and needs of a variety of vital community organizations across Delaware County. Decisions for this second round of response funding were made to come along side these vital community organizations with identified immediate needs related to the Coronavirus Pandemic. This round of support follows an initial $20,000 of community support to 12 organizations.

Emergency Response Grants in the amounts of $1,000 or $2,000 have been awarded to the following organizations:

  • Albany-Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Department
  • Delaware County Adult Probation Office
  • Delaware County Coroner’s Office
  • Eaton Volunteer Fire Department
  • Gaston Volunteer Fire Department
  • Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department
  • Inside Out Community Development Corporation
  • Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department
  • Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department
  • Salem Township-Daleville Emergency Service
  • Yorktown Fire Department

Emergency Response Grants are funded through The Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation. Because of our history of unrestricted donor support, we are able to flexibly respond to unexpected and changing needs in the community. The Community Foundation will continue to assess our community’s needs and respond appropriately. Community members may support Emergency Response Grants with a gift to The Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation online at cfmdin.org or by mail. All gifts made to The Unrestricted fund through June 30 will be available for immediate grantmaking.

The Community Foundation is able to award grants to charitable organizations and units of government. Grants to individuals are not permitted. Organizations may contact the Foundation at commfound@cfmdin.org to discuss their needs in response to the impact of COVID-19.
