The Work

Fund Accounting

  • Manage fund level general ledger, including opening and closing charitable funds
  • Oversee weekly cash receipts and serve as backup for cash receipts processing
  • Oversee weekly cash disbursement process and serve as backup for check cutting process
  • Calculate, request, and confirm weekly transfers between checking and investment accounts
  • Lead month end close process including:
    • Maintain fixed assets
    • Maintain loan fund activity
    • Perform monthly investment account reconciliations
    • Prepare donor fund statements
    • Prepare monthly financial statement package
  • Calculate quarterly administrative fees
  • Calculate and monitor annual spending policy for endowed funds

Investment Reporting

  • Provide quarterly reporting summaries to Investment Committee
  • Maintain overall investment performance and asset allocation reports for Investment Committee

Internal Control, Audit & Tax Filings

  • Assist in the development, implementation and modification of accounting policies and procedures
  • Maintain internal control systems to ensure accuracy of financial records, rapid identification of errors, and proper segregation of duties
  • Prepare schedules for annual financial audit in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare schedules for annual Form 990 tax filing

Be of Service

  • Constantly monitor cross-departmental coordination of work flows to improve operational efficiency
  • Provide excellent customer service, both internally and externally in response to requests for information

What You Need to Do The Work

  • BS Degree in Accounting or similar area of study required
  • Three to five years accounting experience required
  • CPA license preferred
  • Experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements required
  • Experience with fund accounting and investment financial reporting a plus
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple competing assignments and responsibilities
  • Strong planning and implementation skills; research and synthesizing abilities
  • High degree of professionalism, confidence, and ability to work collaboratively
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and ethics
