Foundation and endowment portfolio management takes significant time and effort from staff members and volunteer committee members. Some organizations choose to work with investment consultants to help manage their assets while other portfolios are fully committee managed. However an organization chooses to oversee their funds, investment/finance committee members are fiduciaries and as such they are responsible for key policy and portfolio management decisions. Whether markets are volatile or steady, portfolio implementation decisions and actions need to be handled with care. In this panel discussion, three committee chairs and an investment consultant discuss some best practices of effective committees—along with plenty of take-aways relevant to other committees.
