The community foundation field has legal issues very different from other charitable organizations.  This session offers learning segments with legal experts from Indiana, Michigan and Ohio addressing many legal topics specific to community foundations including:

  • Liability and fiduciary responsibility
  • Legal issues in working with donors
  • Fund management
  • Legal issues in investments
  • Lobbying and advocacy rules
  • Privacy/Confidentiality/Anonymity/Releases
  • Excess benefit/excess business holdings
  • Charitable registration
  • Crowdfunding using the community foundation name

To maximize access to this valuable program, it is offered in locations in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.  The day will include videoconferencing technology, so participants in each location will be able to benefit from presenters in the other states.

There is time set aside for individual questions too. The day is filled with information on legal issues important to community foundations!  To download a printable PDF of the agenda, click here.
